Animation
Animation was a very fun class to take and experience. This class was about the art of animating and when it told about what animation was like back then and what it is now. My knowledge on animation wasn’t vast so I took the class in order to learn more about the class. I was able to extend my knowledge of animation immensely. It taught me the 12 Principles of Animation: Squash & Stretch, Anticipation, Staging, Straight Ahead & Pose to Pose, Follow Through & Overlapping Action, Slow In & Slow Out, Arcs, Secondary Action, Timing, Exaggeration, Solid Drawing, and Appeal. I had a lot of fun interacting with the people around me. I made new friends while I was taking the class.
My favorite assignment was the Bouncing Ball assignment. I really liked how it looked after it was finished. It really helped me understand the fundamentals of making an object appear as if it’s bouncing. It was very fun to animate and watch it as it bounces. This is why it is my favorite assignment.
If I could choose anything I had trouble with I would say it would have to be the smoothness of the animation. I noticed in my animating that it lacked smoothness and had a sort of “rough” look to it. It bothered me very much so but, I could never seem to be able to fix it. I also had a problem with the drawings. I would always make a drawing too big or small.
In conclusion to these paragraphs I really enjoyed animation as a whole. It has expanded my knowledge of animation, introduced me to new people, and taught me about the history of animation. I would most definitely recommend this class for people who would like to take animation but, are not certain if it will satisfy them. Animation isn’t hard to learn nor uninteresting to not take. This is definitely an area i want to be associated with.
